When construction was completed at South Dakota State’s Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic complex it officially became the largest indoor practice facility in Division I athletics!
The colossal 149,284-square foot facility showcases a unique 300 meter eight (8) lane indoor track along with designated long jump, triple jump and high jump areas. SDSU officials opted for Beynon Sports’ proven BSS 1000 system with Hobart texture. Want to learn more on the new track surface? Click Here
“It was vital for us to choose a product that had proven durability and a company that we could rely on for service throughout the life of our surface. By selecting Beynon Sports we knew we would rest easy at night” said SDSU Head Coach Rod DeHaven.
Known for being as good on race day as it is for training, the BSS 1000 is the same surface installed at high profile track and field venues across the country such as the University of Iowa, University of Maine, Saginaw Valley State University, the SPIRE Institute and many others.
The new surface has already made a big impact on the University’s athletes as several broke personal bests on their first time trial! “The tracks length might be contested in the future as the times are just that fast!” said DeHaven with a smile.
“SDSU’s new complex shouldn’t only be considered the largest but also one of the most gorgeous indoor facilities in the country” Said Drew Beynon, COO at Beynon Sports. “It’s a great honor to have been chosen for this remarkable project.”
South Dakota State University opted to utilize the pre-bid, preferential pricing offered through the TCPN Cooperative Purchasing Contract. Procuring with the TCPN Cooperative Purchasing Contract, part of the Beynon Sports SmartBuy Cooperative Purchasing Portfolio, enabled the University to select their running track surface of choice without having to repeat the public bid process.
