Renner Sports Surfaces, A Beynon Sports Company, was named the 2019 “Builder/Contractor of the Year” by Racquet Sports Industry, the official publication of the Tennis Industry Association, the American Sports Builders Association and the U.S. Racquet Stringers Association.
The industry-leading magazine also recognized 23 other winners with its 2019 “Champions of Tennis” Awards — including Dan Faber, executive director of the U.S. Tennis Association Foundation as “Person of the Year.” For the past 19 years, Racquet Sports Industry (formerly Tennis Industry) has honored individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to make a difference in the tennis business.
Other 2019 “Champions of Tennis” categories included “Pro/Specialty Retailer of the Year,” “Community Tennis Association of the Year,” “Tennis Advocate of the Year” and “Innovative Tennis Event of the Year.”
As Racquet Sports Industry states in its January 2020 issue, the winners’ “stories and service should serve as inspiration to the thousands of dedicated ‘champions’ who, every day, continue to move this industry forward.”
Denver-based Renner has specialized in the design, construction, renovation and repair of tennis courts and running tracks for more than 20 years. The company provides a full range of performance surfaces, as well as lighting, fencing and other amenities to furnish turnkey projects. Crews use recycled tires and steel, and when possible build over existing surfaces to eliminate (on average) the disposal of 150 cubic yards of old material per court — most of which would otherwise end up in landfills.
Renner’s projects have won numerous “distinguished tennis facility” awards at venues as diverse as The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
